This Warm Vintage Modern Abode is Full of Interior Design Lessons

When creating this family-friendly home, designer Kelsey McGregor of Kelsey Leigh Design Co., chose an understated color palette that adorns every interior. “We’ve always been inspired by nature’s color palette,” says McGregor, who mixes browns, creams, reds and greens in the open-concept living room and master suite. Here, balance and flow are top priorities – from the red oak cabinets and Calacatta Macchia Vecchia marble kitchen backsplash to the reclaimed wood barn doors and beaded chandelier in the master bedroom.

“We wanted to deliver elements that felt collected and had soul and character, but also felt timeless,” says McGregor of his design style. As you walk through the rooms, it’s clear that the sconces, pendants, and pendant lights serve as pieces of art in every room. “Lighting is a big deal for us,” says McGregor, who believes the right fixture defines his signature modern aesthetic. “We love to add an unexpected element, usually in the form of lighting.”

Stroll through this artistic interior makeover, which is immediately felt comfortable upon entering. You’ll start in a living room designed with a growing family in mind, and end in one of the most gorgeous laundry rooms you’ve ever seen.
