Welcome to the 433rd edition of Android Apps Weekly. Here are the big headlines from last week:
- It turns out that most of our readers actually read the changelogs. We posted the poll last week because we wanted to know if people were actually reading it for apps on the Play Store. Over 50% of readers say they do while 34% say they do if they see a notification. That’s a pretty good number and we’re impressed with our readership for that.
- A flaw in Huawei’s AppGallery apparently lets you download premium apps for free. Developer Dylan Roussel informed Huawei about this issue but Huawei has not resolved it. Luckily, this isn’t too easy to do so the vulnerability doesn’t do too much damage. Hopefully Huawei fixes this sooner rather than later.
- Google has started a testing program for its Wear OS companion app. You can find a link for it here. Some people got stuck trying to join the beta, so don’t be sad if you don’t get in right away. Anyway, this new beta lets people test new features before they actually launch the app. It’s nice to see Google taking it more seriously, especially considering the Pixel Watch is coming this fall.
- WhatsApp changed the way to leave group chats. These days, leaving a group chat alerts basically everyone you leave. New changes only notify group admins and you when you leave the group. It’s a small thing, but still a nice change.
- Google Play was able to remove nearly 900,000 apps from the Google Play Store because they were abandoned by developers. Old apps don’t work as well as new ones and apps without updates never get bug fixes. Plus, the app isn’t updated to the latest APIs so it’s not optimized. In any case, both Google and Apple seem to want to free up some space to make room for newer apps. Hit the link to learn how they will do it.
Mythic legend

Mythic Legends is a new strategy game with some auto chess mechanics. Players unlock various champions and use them to duel against other players. The game also has several different game modes with ranking playlist, gauntlet, royale and dungeon. At its core, it’s a card-collecting strategy game with some fun mechanics that fans of a certain type of game should enjoy this one. It has some flaws and isn’t that deep yet. However, we believe that things will evolve over time. Watch this one.
KMINT is a multi-chain crypto wallet and also supports NFT. It has most of the usual stuff that you can find in most crypto wallets. You can exchange coins, send and receive crypto from other people, and the MiniApp platform with several other tools. To be honest, I’m not the biggest crypto guy so I don’t really have a lot of assets to play with here, but it seems to work fine for what it is. However, new apps are always a little buggy, so give the developers some time to fix this before giving it a full assessment.
Reborn shot
Price: $6.99 with in-app purchases
Gunfire Reborn is an adventure game with very few other elements. It boasts some RPG, roguelite and FPS mechanics. Other than that, the graphics are vaguely reminiscent of the old Borderlands games. The player passes the level by shooting down the bad guys. You can play solo or with friends. The choice is yours. It was previously released on PC and it looks like the developers did a pretty good job with their mobile port. The game is premium at $6.99, but it unlocks all content. The only things you can buy with in-app purchases are additional characters. It’s a pretty good game and one of the few FPS games that deserves the premium price tag.
See to Speak
Price: Free
Look to Speak is a new app from Google’s Creative Lab. We talked about this in a previous update, but it looks like it’s actually out now. This app is quite simple, but also cool. You give your phone a certain look and it reacts with a certain message. That way you can, say, frown at your phone and your phone will tell the person you’re with to leave. This is an accessibility app and is a beta product. Be sure to report any bugs or issues to Google so they can fix them.
Apex Legends mobile
Price: Free to play
Apex Legends Mobile is definitely one of the biggest mobile game releases of the year so far. This is the mobile version of the popular game and most of the mechanics carry over. This is a battle royale style game with various Legends having various abilities. The gameplay is smooth and we really liked the range mode which lets you demonstrate weapons and test control changes. It has a very smooth launch without many bugs or issues. The game ran fine on my test phone. It’s been a few days old news, but this one definitely competes with PUBG or Fortnite on mobile. Maybe even better.
